How to Make Paper Butterflies

Materials:

* Origami paper (or regular paper) * Scissors * Glue or tape * Pencil or marker (optional)

Instructions:

1. Start with a square piece of paper that is at least 6 inches by 6 inches. 2. Fold the paper in half diagonally to create a triangle. 3. Unfold the paper and fold the top corners down to the center crease. 4. Fold the bottom corners up to the center crease. 5. Fold the top and bottom edges of the paper together to meet in the center crease. 6. Open up the triangle and fold the top point down to the center crease. 7. Fold the bottom point up to the center crease. 8. Now your paper should look like a diamond shape. 9. Fold the diamond shape in half horizontally to create a rectangle. 10. Unfold the rectangle and draw or write on the paper as desired. 11. Fold the rectangle in half vertically to create a square. 12. Now your paper butterfly is complete!

Tips:

* You can use different colors and patterns of paper to create different butterfly designs. * You can draw or write on the paper before or after you fold it to create a personalized butterfly. * You can cut out the butterfly and attach it to a string or wire to hang it up.
