Early trends show a comfortable win for Mr. Modi's party

Exit polls conducted by several news organizations in India have predicted a comfortable victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2024 general election. The polls suggest that the NDA is leading in nearly 300 seats, which would be a significant increase from the 303 it won in 2019.

Modi set a high bar for success

Heading into the election, Modi had set a high bar for success, predicting that his BJP-led NDA would win more than 350 seats. While the exit polls suggest that the NDA may not quite reach that target, they do indicate that the alliance is on track for a decisive victory.
